Someone once asked:
“WHAT’S THE POINT OF LIVING IF TRAGIC THINGS HAPPEN TO US.”
That’s a big question, and I knew that no matter what, I wouldn’t be able to provide him/her with all the answers he/she desired until I’m able to properly fix myself in his/her situation. But I still answered the question then because I knew the person needed an “answer” not a “silence.”
But before then, I turned to myself (to my mind now) and repeated the question to myself: SEE, WHAT’S THE POINT OF LIVING IF TRAGIC THINGS HAPPEN TO US? Then some part of the Bible in Genesis started coming up and I’m like wait… Okay, this is what I got:
When God created man in the beginning, He never created him with tragedies/sadness but rather, surrounded him with so many beautiful things (Genesis 2:9). Out of His Love for man, He gave him freedom and in his fear that man uses such freedom to ‘cut-away’ from Him, He gave man a Protective caution: “You may eat the fruit of any tree in the garden, EXCEPT the tree that gives knowledge of what is good and what is bad. You must not eat of that tree; if you do, you will die (death of the soul) the same day (Genesis 2:16-17).” Yet, man out of the freedom given, decided to obey the voice of evil rather than the loving caution of his Creator. He disobeyed God. Then the consequences followed (Genesis 3:16-19); this marks the beginning of man’s tragedy. To show his undying love for man, God clothed them (Genesis 3:21) before He finally let them out of the garden. Since then, man has been causing and running from one tragedy to another (Genesis chapter 4). Pained by what man was going through, God in His compassion seeks to re-unite man to Himself again to lighten the burden borne by man and to give him another chance to restore his soul back again from death. God in His Supernatural power through Jesus Christ came re-establish another solid relationship with man, a chance for man to restore the previledges he once had before his first disobedience. God again, still leaves man with a freedom to chose.
Back to the question, I believe God never intended we live in tragedy. Most pains caused on earth are the consequences of our own actions and choices. So the purpose of living is to find God in all these tragedies and through Him, we find peace, love, hope, grace, e.t.c. And by his grace, we can overcome these pains if only our Faith in Him is strong enough to permit Him to touch us with his Loving Hands of Divine Healing.
Have a nice day/night!
