Sometimes we never really accept the presence of God’s seed of greatness in our lives. At times, we let the fear of what people will say or their reactions prevent us from doing what we feel is right or true. One thing I learn about people is that, they would vehemently reject what they perceive as a threat or a bitter word in the first instances, but later give up when they begin to see the good in it; except if the word/deed has no good in it.
Sometimes we want to help someone who is in need of help; like a tired old woman coming from the market with a heavy load on her head or a beggar seeking for one kind of assistance. A lot of times, we ignore these people not because we want to, deep inside we really want to help, but because we would be outshinning those who saw it but ignore it, we become afraid of the contempt and criticisms that will come from these people, so we just ignore these opportunities to let out our light. We kill our own light. We join and do what people do whether good or bad without thinking about God’s opinion about such acts, just to be accepted and to belong. We think people will give us security, but when there is an earthquake or a gunshot, look around and see if you are running hand-in-hand with your so-called group, many if not all of you will all go your seperate ways to save your dear lives. Sometimes it’s a total stranger that God will use to rescue us in our hour of need, just to show us that the key to true and lasting security and happiness is in the hands of God. Friendship with Him gives the best form of security, peace and lasting happiness. And once our friendship is built on the principle of God’s love, nothing can seperate us from each other.
Below is a very beautiful quote to medidate on, concerning our fears and our LIGHT:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest, the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberate others.”
– Marianne Williamson as written for Nelson Mandela.
So consider which of the two you’ll free to dominate your life. Fear or Light?
Have a lively day!
